A parent's guide

The events at the RobotChallenge World Championship.

RobotChallenge is a long-running international championship for self-made robots, and Malaysian teams take part every year. Here are its main events, each with a short video — so you can see what your child could one day aim for.

Malaysia competes — and wins. At the 2026 RobotChallenge World Championship in Beijing, Malaysian students brought home medals in Puck Collect and Robot Bowling. It's a real stage that local kids reach — skills first, competing when they're ready.

Six main events

The events — with a clip of each.

RobotChallenge runs a whole range of events. Here are the main ones kids aim for, each with a short video so you can see exactly what it looks like.

Robot Sumo

Build & strategy

Two robots face off in a ring and try to push each other out. A sturdy build and a smart plan beat raw speed — fast, exciting rounds, run across several weight classes.

Line Follower

Sensors & speed

The robot races along a marked line using light sensors, as fast as it can without losing the track. Kids tune the speed and the cornering until it flies round the course.

Air Race

Flight & control

A drone flies a set course through gates and obstacles against the clock. Piloting, balance and steady nerves — a favourite for kids drawn to things that fly.

Puck Collect

Speed & sorting

The robot roams an arena gathering pucks and pushing them into its home zone before time runs out. Planning a good route and reacting fast is what wins it.

Humanoid Sprint

Balance & walking

Two-legged robots race down a track — walking, not rolling. Keeping a humanoid upright and moving is a real engineering puzzle, and great fun to watch.

Robot Bowling

Aim & precision

The robot lines up and knocks down as many pins as it can. Simple to grasp, tricky to master — precision and consistency decide it.

How Kunoa helps

How we prepare students to compete.

Our classes build the skills these competitions test — assembling robots, block coding, sensors, logic and, later, AI vision. For students who want to take part, we help with team forming, preparation, and the registration steps.
